Our founder
Kakumba Kato, is a lifelong entrepreneur. Originally from Kampala, Uganda, he built a successful tire business that thrived through customer loyalty and word-of-mouth. But like many immigrants, his dream stretched far beyond borders. When Kakumba moved to the United States, he brought with him a bold ambition—to create a thriving family business that would leave a legacy.
But the American dream proved harder than expected. The barriers to entry were steep, resources were scarce, and despite tireless effort, opportunity didn’t come easily. The reality that so many small businesses fail within three years hit home. Still, Kakumba refused to give up. With unyielding determination, long nights, and the support of his entire family, Katos Goods was born.
